My husband and I collect antique and vintage sewing machines and I use them to make all my quilts. Here are some of the results.Jacqui's Quiltshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04377061976067861699noreply@blogger.comBlogger519125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8959994082394931750.post-83758368781753164702024-03-18T18:35:00.001-04:002024-03-18T18:35:16.748-04:00Pull up a Chair<p><span style="font-size: large;">I came across a pattern at <a href="https://thebalconyquiltstudio.ca/" target="_blank">The Balcony Quilt Sutdio</a> called "Pull up a Chair". What a fun pattern. The pattern is available online as an instant download. I dug through my fabrics and found some fun colours in my Kaffe Fassett stash with a Free Spirit solid. However, after I cut it out and stood back, there was not enough contrast to see the chair. (</span><span style="font-size: small;">Click on the photo to enlarge.)</span> <br /></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjynlNUBAiBgB-PEtihhfWXtQi37z5xjdgtAAQeKKYNPFvp_C_87jTD8mpbeL6SaHU70JEOcTrmMz4na40mU68MxlxE2Osrqg3NJMa5MAXjzjqzZj1Bse4soIJCCGxJCLfLGqWsY7jqa5h0KBKkaPoUo8cb6BorsyDyr3BJqn1VDC-pvdZlOw4ljcnBwOA7/s2218/DSCF4999.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2218" data-original-width="1990" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjynlNUBAiBgB-PEtihhfWXtQi37z5xjdgtAAQeKKYNPFvp_C_87jTD8mpbeL6SaHU70JEOcTrmMz4na40mU68MxlxE2Osrqg3NJMa5MAXjzjqzZj1Bse4soIJCCGxJCLfLGqWsY7jqa5h0KBKkaPoUo8cb6BorsyDyr3BJqn1VDC-pvdZlOw4ljcnBwOA7/w359-h400/DSCF4999.JPG" width="359" /></a></div><br /> <span style="font-size: large;">So I found a lighter background, but since I had all the background cut in the dark purple, I picked a lighter purple for a chair and ended up with two blocks! It was a fun block to do; the center is paper pieced and the rest is done with templates. The colour is a little off here as the 'blades' that are in the middle look dark blue, but they are actually dark green (pine). Now we have to wait almost a month before the next month's pattern.<br /></span></p><p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitjpMH17Ve2AEMQGU4wx0ruBSv1hHFTMAsYTYUAgyon0sft31Ans91dYg8MRqmJxg6znvW2yUVUyrAn36ceQZ38g7U5cyF0eDXx3RRSe8Q8DeuHcRYQ5UEq6hEm9QthIk8s9ORpai2aRlp6Ju52xZP4B0i4g1sE3D1DVMGEysrsyw8HUvaoQCpJQ_94Kub/s1642/DSCF4992.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1642" data-original-width="1626" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitjpMH17Ve2AEMQGU4wx0ruBSv1hHFTMAsYTYUAgyon0sft31Ans91dYg8MRqmJxg6znvW2yUVUyrAn36ceQZ38g7U5cyF0eDXx3RRSe8Q8DeuHcRYQ5UEq6hEm9QthIk8s9ORpai2aRlp6Ju52xZP4B0i4g1sE3D1DVMGEysrsyw8HUvaoQCpJQ_94Kub/w396-h400/DSCF4992.JPG" width="396" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">...and my block measures exactly 18 1/2"</span><br /></td></tr></tbody></table><br /></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4k8SD2hfN6Cuh_Errezd6lXDppJ_WKj4a-91YlpaKmAiNfF2aeJE9CN9povo4Bn_vUptB9sRVLSf2O3oeVvzo2JNtv_nBLbcVQDSwwqDNel_VF8z_ZBdrsvI7yKGTNUV064mLbW5xvJhkmzEcx4AcDtqg3-fOZ8bf2w8oogRGUJY6anT52TBbziz9WH90/s2166/DSCF4797.JPG" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2166" data-original-width="1518" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4k8SD2hfN6Cuh_Errezd6lXDppJ_WKj4a-91YlpaKmAiNfF2aeJE9CN9povo4Bn_vUptB9sRVLSf2O3oeVvzo2JNtv_nBLbcVQDSwwqDNel_VF8z_ZBdrsvI7yKGTNUV064mLbW5xvJhkmzEcx4AcDtqg3-fOZ8bf2w8oogRGUJY6anT52TBbziz9WH90/w280-h400/DSCF4797.JPG" width="280" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">I think the new block will go very nicely into the previous month's sections. <br /></span></td></tr></tbody></table><p> </p>Jacqui's Quiltshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04377061976067861699noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8959994082394931750.post-24282160077649265112024-02-22T16:35:00.004-05:002024-02-22T16:35:39.841-05:00Positivities Stitch along<p> <span style="font-size: large;">Rachel Hauser of <a href="https://www.stitchedincolor.com/" target="_blank">Stitched in Colour</a> is hosting another stitch along. Ever since I did the <a href="http://treadlequilts.blogspot.com/2023/04/pas-de-deux-stitch-along.html" target="_blank">Pas de Deux Quilt</a> two years ago, I've been hoping she'd do another one. I had purchased a bundle of Ruby Star Society half yards awhile ago and was saving it for another sew along. And, in January, Rachel started another Stitch along called "Positivities". The pattern is from Carolina Patchworks by Emily Cier. The pattern diagram was divided into sections with 10 rows each and one section of 5 rows at the bottom. I divided each section into four and worked on one section at a time using my Singer 15-88 treadle sewing machine.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">I had intended to quilt this wall hanging myself, but at 70" x 55" and just thinking about quilting through all those seams, I finally approached Len Adams at <a href="https://www.quiltmason.ca/" target="_blank">Quilt Mason</a> for some advice. He has a computerized long arm machine and was very excited about quilting this. I sent him a picture of the original painting and he used that to plan out the quilting, using Van Gogh's brush strokes, which really brought the quilt to life! I was so happy with the results. He did an amazing job. It was very fun to have the quilt on display at a lovely little quilt show at the historic library theatre building in Aylmer, ON.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">When I bought the pattern, I had no idea that it was so big! The only wall in my house that works to display it, it is in my sewing room. I'm happy that it's finally hanging up! <br /></span></p><p style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"> </span><span style="font-size: small;">(click on the pictures for a larger view)<br /></span></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; That stretched me somewhat! Lots of fiddly cutting and messy scraps using steam a seam. But, I'm happy with the cup and saucer that resulted. I am going to do some stitching around the rim of the cup and saucer yet and then quilt it. It will likely be the only collage project I complete ☺. </span><br /><p></p>Jacqui's Quiltshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04377061976067861699noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8959994082394931750.post-49007513260261100102023-04-17T19:22:00.002-04:002024-02-21T13:59:52.499-05:00Pas de Deux stitch along<p> <span style="font-size: large;">Last year, Rachel Hausser of <a href="https://www.stitchedincolor.com/" target="_blank">Stitched in Colour</a>, hosted a stitch along for a quilt she designed called "Pas de Deux". I totally loved the colours she used and used similar colours from my stash for each section. This quilt was a challenge and used many different techniques, from paper piecing, to piecing, to applique, y seams and inset seams. It was amazing how the quilt came together at the end! It was totally made from my scraps. Here is the finished quilt with some closeup photos of the various sections. I started with this Amazing Grace panel and added colours around it from the panel. The flying geese were from a pattern called Panel Pizzazz by Patti Carey and worked well for adding a fairly wide border. This quilt is going to another senior from my Church. I was happy to find all the fabrics I needed in my stash ☺.<br /></span></p><p></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTe7K3QmW2DdlA2DeQaXre_NU0G1Iit3e93VpOnJMkkizVpWNKXI9kqruPP5QrUV_4GKa8i86Lp-UPpEfw1i3RnnXi-hu9q7W7F1_qjHrup9C0bQ5xUsDDwLj8DEXCFeZi5MKs0-GyFge50RzYCv49vafgUrC0La_N61tx1zu7P3CrcEpfrpK8U4LA_w/s1336/20230311_214511.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1336" data-original-width="1267" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTe7K3QmW2DdlA2DeQaXre_NU0G1Iit3e93VpOnJMkkizVpWNKXI9kqruPP5QrUV_4GKa8i86Lp-UPpEfw1i3RnnXi-hu9q7W7F1_qjHrup9C0bQ5xUsDDwLj8DEXCFeZi5MKs0-GyFge50RzYCv49vafgUrC0La_N61tx1zu7P3CrcEpfrpK8U4LA_w/w379-h400/20230311_214511.jpg" width="379" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">The finished quilt. It really helped doing it together as we kept each other motivated. Deb suggested that we get the tops done for our small guild meeting in February! A lot of sewing, but great to have a deadline. It was another great mystery and we both loved the way it turned out.<br /></span></p><p></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPMoJBv-bUjrfPdU0hTVQdOtlfJMy9dLJgCANadrV6GHfEy-VLz7Uoyuv7KttqosqGuvwNXMxvOU91S17O5ymAQs4TJ5XXkwXollAXk72AbTSv4vtvcV8aVkZlbubKpErlNX27BDkfho4_xfrN1z7FALVy-Ut7igAAN2e1-lCpWMEccWQu_-yp9qJa1Q/s2048/329125857_748428086619476_4533942733443132127_n.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPMoJBv-bUjrfPdU0hTVQdOtlfJMy9dLJgCANadrV6GHfEy-VLz7Uoyuv7KttqosqGuvwNXMxvOU91S17O5ymAQs4TJ5XXkwXollAXk72AbTSv4vtvcV8aVkZlbubKpErlNX27BDkfho4_xfrN1z7FALVy-Ut7igAAN2e1-lCpWMEccWQu_-yp9qJa1Q/w400-h300/329125857_748428086619476_4533942733443132127_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">Here is Deb with her quilt top<br /></span></td></tr></tbody></table><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIgApaucDJWOdlBybjaX4NCYPT9nTV3o8ILGQAlhnY-W9TOqUd8B9SJsQboTKrEbAB0TM-mWTlZo13X23t_lz7xVZ8p-DgppfejEqAwdCSSNA55KpmrmrXS-cIp0cTBhveQX2DAofX8Kje3IUqCM_hQ-AjIKrRxOhN2Nm2IEp9fx0xepk318wEshBrIg/s2048/329343274_2335281959983474_1620563245719017640_n.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIgApaucDJWOdlBybjaX4NCYPT9nTV3o8ILGQAlhnY-W9TOqUd8B9SJsQboTKrEbAB0TM-mWTlZo13X23t_lz7xVZ8p-DgppfejEqAwdCSSNA55KpmrmrXS-cIp0cTBhveQX2DAofX8Kje3IUqCM_hQ-AjIKrRxOhN2Nm2IEp9fx0xepk318wEshBrIg/w400-h300/329343274_2335281959983474_1620563245719017640_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">My quilt top all finished!<br /></span></td></tr></tbody></table><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIiICWAQWE6sNdW52umV5zjtKqYbzCCIowyDMJFHmwzLLTe8mwLBlXADni0WOYSAkG9Bz-F1dYsc14DqXtMPaU6TU4PAtvUKoEoP763H2c30txI0vKuzMpwFY0xjDRN6ruwOl5IfWziheG3v3SBk05zyYUtYi75YhVvnzpriJpqWGMeTeX9md8s0boGw/s2048/Finished%20tops%20-%20Deb%20Broadben%20and%20I.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIiICWAQWE6sNdW52umV5zjtKqYbzCCIowyDMJFHmwzLLTe8mwLBlXADni0WOYSAkG9Bz-F1dYsc14DqXtMPaU6TU4PAtvUKoEoP763H2c30txI0vKuzMpwFY0xjDRN6ruwOl5IfWziheG3v3SBk05zyYUtYi75YhVvnzpriJpqWGMeTeX9md8s0boGw/w400-h300/Finished%20tops%20-%20Deb%20Broadben%20and%20I.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">The two tops together. We had a lot of fun in the sewing room and gallivanting to quilt shops in the area. One day, Rachel of <a href="https://www.stitchedincolor.com/blog">Stitched in Colour</a>, posted the <a href="https://www.stitchedincolor.com/blog/2022/10/12/the-disappearing-nine-patch">Disappearing 9 patch</a>! I've done a lot of disappearing 9 patches cut straight, but had not seen the diagonally sliced method. I showed it to Els and we decided to give it a try. You know you have too much fabric when we had no trouble finding a huge stack of floral FQ's to easily make a lap quilt. The quilt was very quick to cut and sew together and in no time, we had the top together. A very fun project to do with the two of us. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">My neighbour across the street, Chris Bogart, quilted it for me on her long arm machine using a lovely butterfly motif and I used a stripe for the binding that went with the line of florals we used for the blocks. The quilt turned out lovely and is heading for our local chemo unit through the Hearts and Hands Quilt guild I belong to. Each person going through treatments for cancer in our local hospital gets to choose a quilt from the stack we make all year.<br /></span></p><p></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEie5LAWu9oLWRXVlmMM39uzL3T6dM2BULVY0g6q81EqTUOE6VWk1BPpjPMOOchBQNvV-S65tZdZQ3F6rlcpBtCmmAHQPwPcRn6snskc5sGzBhKhofbtcvX2ilZOrxvYCoW9PpmmdPY63jpbPH9DtBM7W64U51_KHMAl8F0TRzYSqzMZlsoWwI9X0t7cQg/s1939/DSCF2615.JPG" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1923" data-original-width="1939" height="396" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEie5LAWu9oLWRXVlmMM39uzL3T6dM2BULVY0g6q81EqTUOE6VWk1BPpjPMOOchBQNvV-S65tZdZQ3F6rlcpBtCmmAHQPwPcRn6snskc5sGzBhKhofbtcvX2ilZOrxvYCoW9PpmmdPY63jpbPH9DtBM7W64U51_KHMAl8F0TRzYSqzMZlsoWwI9X0t7cQg/w400-h396/DSCF2615.JPG" width="400" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">This really did make a happy quilt!<br /></span></td></tr></tbody></table><br /><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1XWzTmUfHRr-0-ti42JM_qe3fHxpss3abfpKc88oHl0WWBGq947ersfNvxPlkhRPIEl30oJcWrdw8qmn6DKmaWiBa7qyxJIkxi00uK4QyGN5gBoyOEMdKOtIptzwClLlYhg-zMraG7tPSd-wHmzSw72Zdn_zbF03g6AhEGrHX9v-y4CzuOWpPQwWc6g/s1793/DSCF2616.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1793" data-original-width="1342" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1XWzTmUfHRr-0-ti42JM_qe3fHxpss3abfpKc88oHl0WWBGq947ersfNvxPlkhRPIEl30oJcWrdw8qmn6DKmaWiBa7qyxJIkxi00uK4QyGN5gBoyOEMdKOtIptzwClLlYhg-zMraG7tPSd-wHmzSw72Zdn_zbF03g6AhEGrHX9v-y4CzuOWpPQwWc6g/w300-h400/DSCF2616.JPG" width="300" /></a></div><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiCtb2VXEfdMewc1ZmxHw5JWlc1W-b73ocwJSXzqI6mpAeOgj5yanqzkVMB7JzqDU_WLP9ao5BcGnDEf5p1WukvP8uwLtmbLqsNxI-m7QgseV3-oqUktmhO2_w6HbrBu80ffCUJT3aQ3PxqzTKjI5G4LP4UmpyvdmxghmPbjYi4obXsWLysy0bN5SpBw/s3072/DSCF2617.JPG" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2304" data-original-width="3072" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiCtb2VXEfdMewc1ZmxHw5JWlc1W-b73ocwJSXzqI6mpAeOgj5yanqzkVMB7JzqDU_WLP9ao5BcGnDEf5p1WukvP8uwLtmbLqsNxI-m7QgseV3-oqUktmhO2_w6HbrBu80ffCUJT3aQ3PxqzTKjI5G4LP4UmpyvdmxghmPbjYi4obXsWLysy0bN5SpBw/w400-h300/DSCF2617.JPG" width="400" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">The lovely butterfly quilting.<br /></span></td></tr></tbody></table><br /> <p></p>Jacqui's Quiltshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04377061976067861699noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8959994082394931750.post-68247788224188954182022-12-03T13:56:00.007-05:002022-12-03T14:05:51.920-05:00CHRISTMAS PILLOWS<p><span style="font-size: large;">Some new Christmas pillows got finished here last month. The first one was on a panel I received from a friend a few years ago. I did not know what to do with it - make a quilt? I got it out this year and found a lovely dark green batik that matched it perfectly. When I measured the wreath, it was 24" and that gave me the idea of doing a pillow. I had purchased a 26" pillow form at a yard sale at our guild meeting in October. The grand kids love to grab a large pillow for back support while sitting on the floor ☺. </span> <br /></p><p></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2CxVkv1KPPcWYtownDiaUBoQUx7WVKV3wI5S1WGe0bx0e-fLhCMieugo7G_NiBQpIB8sx1JyJJMfVq_UekBZfflVuRTGEJAqM_b-IbxBoSRSD3_nmk1y-fqt2-Mbf1ttHJhYhZBKIUtAS0-XO8A2-BbncHzSjEeQX8Jvn_x1KpQv1_myaSfvpbr37uw/s1944/20221122_111708.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1944" data-original-width="1397" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2CxVkv1KPPcWYtownDiaUBoQUx7WVKV3wI5S1WGe0bx0e-fLhCMieugo7G_NiBQpIB8sx1JyJJMfVq_UekBZfflVuRTGEJAqM_b-IbxBoSRSD3_nmk1y-fqt2-Mbf1ttHJhYhZBKIUtAS0-XO8A2-BbncHzSjEeQX8Jvn_x1KpQv1_myaSfvpbr37uw/w288-h400/20221122_111708.jpg" width="288" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">There were also 6 hexagon shaped motifs on the panel so I made them into coasters for the coffee table.<br /></span></td></tr></tbody></table><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPrs2UmRMgEVC1uXbThYhAESLwyBZo9vmKwHNeK0fAk0GtWI8IOCz86NpDGoIrJn1qsp96RNUdBoO3PhTIwnp3R2DZZf2fCTypcEDLyefp5lMW0McVwTyQankl8jbfVjpy5tHORBm0u6u7DxFD2htAKl-3H144dRuqG0eEMY7R7OKO53I3ff0bXUclqg/s1998/20221122_111740.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBb5dyGmz74kVua8Cf2qMbZBYNL-2W8KsZj7tvrmCYknKDlcr9B_BCITTY89_ExlXN2vS8V9DWsQSqOCfsfUas3GVPoc_w8lIHB0aQTguAzism_iTQDBJipL01oTQUJgFErxJYrW2k3vvs3BR94tj2TCRhR8I-_oPpKYGDilUjLgfMUybBy8-fhg-aig/s2560/20221122_111717.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1440" data-original-width="2560" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBb5dyGmz74kVua8Cf2qMbZBYNL-2W8KsZj7tvrmCYknKDlcr9B_BCITTY89_ExlXN2vS8V9DWsQSqOCfsfUas3GVPoc_w8lIHB0aQTguAzism_iTQDBJipL01oTQUJgFErxJYrW2k3vvs3BR94tj2TCRhR8I-_oPpKYGDilUjLgfMUybBy8-fhg-aig/w400-h225/20221122_111717.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">I did quite a bit of free motion quilting around the motifs which was good practice again. It is called Chilhowie this year. The first post on the mystery can be found <a href="https://quiltville.blogspot.com/p/chilhowie-mystery.html" target="_blank">here</a>. This post gives information on the colours and amounts of fabric needed and the first clues will be up the day after American Thanksgiving. I will add and remove from the stash yet as I go along I'm sure.</span><br /></p><p></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbMBdNuWnp-sYLFLHqORwc7QNw-SlNso_BzLPNCGrt9MuKY_CbpvzL11jbMcNYCPjf4_TInCbkaCJXbyMZnAVC-YJdmzUMAtPzc7Hk6W4pmmAIQX6s1eg7QK44VBjNwJv5_FW3fYiAZ_TmO2MzHef-WVP1ohgFsPnOE_miTCTq5JlaOTNFvN9K1aFDdg/s2560/20221103_110454.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1440" data-original-width="2560" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbMBdNuWnp-sYLFLHqORwc7QNw-SlNso_BzLPNCGrt9MuKY_CbpvzL11jbMcNYCPjf4_TInCbkaCJXbyMZnAVC-YJdmzUMAtPzc7Hk6W4pmmAIQX6s1eg7QK44VBjNwJv5_FW3fYiAZ_TmO2MzHef-WVP1ohgFsPnOE_miTCTq5JlaOTNFvN9K1aFDdg/w400-h225/20221103_110454.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">I had this Ana Maria Horner wide back on the table for another quilt. A friend of mine was collecting quilts to send to a local Ukrainian center and my grandkids came over several times to make a quilt top. We raided my extensive I spy squares and made disappearing 9 patch blocks. I sent the link to my daughter in law as it had my granddaughter Eleanor's name all over it! She could definitely be described as a little whirlwind ☺. I collected fabric over the next few months to match her bedroom and had a lot of fun with this pattern. Eleanor loved the quilt and even got to come along to my neighbour across the street, Chris, who quilted it for me on her long arm machine. Eleanor got to see the big machine and help choose the pattern for quilting and the thread colour. </span></p><p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; Here is the initial blog post of the sew along she proposed:<br /></span></p><p style="text-align: left;"> https://www.stitchedincolor.com/blog/2020/12/4/-healing-art-for-2020</p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: large;">Since we were in a pandemic and had lots of time on our hands, and I had lots of fabric, I thought I'd try my hands at this and make the quilt for my daughter in law, Becky, who works in a nursing home and has certainly dealt with many challenges! At our ladies Bible study at Church, we were studying Nancy Guthrie's book, "Looking for Something Better" which is a study of the book of Hebrews. The first task was choosing fabrics for the various rows. These were my final colour choices:</span> <br /></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsWVsaQHbjGG4aTeZGahOKulcNaJpSluZKeim83r4y8HGN0NMWutSH3o5hzL0NdnJ-ftBHz_4jLFeICABa_2LDzveLSwGySeyu_liW8Ntr1xBE-eXQbhXZaJGB_wfG_O8HmBNEYfwOwaFK5kt4NYUAp_NF4bsRO2cEbnbPYxspy3EwsGCjSyZj7w6bQQ/s2530/Final%20colour%20order.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="760" data-original-width="2530" height="120" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsWVsaQHbjGG4aTeZGahOKulcNaJpSluZKeim83r4y8HGN0NMWutSH3o5hzL0NdnJ-ftBHz_4jLFeICABa_2LDzveLSwGySeyu_liW8Ntr1xBE-eXQbhXZaJGB_wfG_O8HmBNEYfwOwaFK5kt4NYUAp_NF4bsRO2cEbnbPYxspy3EwsGCjSyZj7w6bQQ/w400-h120/Final%20colour%20order.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">I didn't have quite enough of a few of the fabrics but a quick online purchase remedied that!</span></td><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></td></tr></tbody></table><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaPMj1b3hIT1xC6mp6nROxOdfE25nJExJsCdmE6t4DaGvi4NEehvY4v9EV9rlkInHQLqvo9kM-Z6gI7JdwxrvRp71STYEBQMbavyiP2sfM_8EzHRf0dqttb6WGwgfr4fRS4L-dEfUnoRNK2inQFSzli6q2lKtjoD47WgkJZHkyCS6ICHF0h2ZmGUzE-Q/s2068/DSCF1186.JPG" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2068" data-original-width="1777" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaPMj1b3hIT1xC6mp6nROxOdfE25nJExJsCdmE6t4DaGvi4NEehvY4v9EV9rlkInHQLqvo9kM-Z6gI7JdwxrvRp71STYEBQMbavyiP2sfM_8EzHRf0dqttb6WGwgfr4fRS4L-dEfUnoRNK2inQFSzli6q2lKtjoD47WgkJZHkyCS6ICHF0h2ZmGUzE-Q/w344-h400/DSCF1186.JPG" width="344" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">The final quilt. We haven't been able to ship out any sewing machines for charity for two years now, so we had quite an accumulation. We decided to start with servicing and testing those machines as we met a lady who has connections to ship them out to developing countries! Jake serviced a good dozen machines and I tested 11 of them so far. I decided to make some pin cushions as that's a great small project to tackle different machines that have various presser feet sizes. So, my pin cushion jar is full again! Here are the pin cushions I made: </span> <br /></p><p></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1Mi1mzeTzec3Pvgd2GD8cADWaeqhyEWXr54XInCMzHmBiT8tjnUsKp1dbxWT2P--SvPoYJipUwuWVMKBN6_vrLYqr6CtK1HeQDjCAzRYWgDsQ3BUyQKDLdG9Ubg49hj_oJTZoeECBQ0loHdOh9rMaxENfvhOh9nFp20IlgJsk5vJ9ZjPterdwBcn9mA/s2798/DSCF1329.JPG" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1189" data-original-width="2798" height="170" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1Mi1mzeTzec3Pvgd2GD8cADWaeqhyEWXr54XInCMzHmBiT8tjnUsKp1dbxWT2P--SvPoYJipUwuWVMKBN6_vrLYqr6CtK1HeQDjCAzRYWgDsQ3BUyQKDLdG9Ubg49hj_oJTZoeECBQ0loHdOh9rMaxENfvhOh9nFp20IlgJsk5vJ9ZjPterdwBcn9mA/w400-h170/DSCF1329.JPG" width="400" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">These three pin cushions were in a magazine I bought earlier this year. And promptly forgot to write it up!! I'm woefully behind on blogging. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">I started these two little quilts from a book Prairie Children and Their Quilts, many years ago and finally got them finished earlier this year. I made two at a time and sent one little quilt off to my sister in BC and kept one here. They are the perfect size for the American/Maplelea 18" dolls.<br /></span></p><p></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhQbQvOhiUZSXy5J6PJ5xNm4xDMgC6xJAMCOY5B79jo1kwWbTlcZwLuXcvEK_FC7cIWD2368HIJ-pCmqPAox3f_CqUqOYCiy5Bd8Z_rJM45rJrW3SKmipO4zo6j7q73bROG1H2ElukHL5gzSAeM36jgC-JXj-U2JS1JTc6c6dSSyoQD2uvr0p8W7JHhNQ=s1710" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1710" data-original-width="1321" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhQbQvOhiUZSXy5J6PJ5xNm4xDMgC6xJAMCOY5B79jo1kwWbTlcZwLuXcvEK_FC7cIWD2368HIJ-pCmqPAox3f_CqUqOYCiy5Bd8Z_rJM45rJrW3SKmipO4zo6j7q73bROG1H2ElukHL5gzSAeM36jgC-JXj-U2JS1JTc6c6dSSyoQD2uvr0p8W7JHhNQ=w309-h400" width="309" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">My sister's quilt<br /></span></td></tr></tbody></table><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEg30M4gQaD5kMAu2zDtM2r6FJATNUPuJzfnxzu6rUQ9cJeMQIk_ijxdYc-fRcBzAnkr7z-jF9T748iP2oDkkImscUwk2r0ZPEW28Ye5sWbD0ISMq7zASN7v-MpAf68ZdfonSFuW1GMV3g_S18o6d_UZYze86ZLvwhnVsTVUNsliQEbJ7XDP-ToUzpE2jA=s3072" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2304" data-original-width="3072" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEg30M4gQaD5kMAu2zDtM2r6FJATNUPuJzfnxzu6rUQ9cJeMQIk_ijxdYc-fRcBzAnkr7z-jF9T748iP2oDkkImscUwk2r0ZPEW28Ye5sWbD0ISMq7zASN7v-MpAf68ZdfonSFuW1GMV3g_S18o6d_UZYze86ZLvwhnVsTVUNsliQEbJ7XDP-ToUzpE2jA=w400-h300" width="400" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">I used this vintage print for the back of both of the little quilts.<br /></span></td></tr></tbody></table><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEj685Y1YXP4bYrMR55GbdwqcwgghLmaPHXRNNDipi0tJUxtNPMnJbLDFX1exWRCd93VwY6enADnyI4HkvGCHbFb5A51Bby0TOcLUGfv-4kynD6dYuPTXeM6C8YCbMTQEPXsdm6G28CTyXjeR7PLPo8PWUIwHWquH4K8Mh8OoXolcCLjJQUmNTZwF9h4Yg=s1857" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1857" data-original-width="1467" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEj685Y1YXP4bYrMR55GbdwqcwgghLmaPHXRNNDipi0tJUxtNPMnJbLDFX1exWRCd93VwY6enADnyI4HkvGCHbFb5A51Bby0TOcLUGfv-4kynD6dYuPTXeM6C8YCbMTQEPXsdm6G28CTyXjeR7PLPo8PWUIwHWquH4K8Mh8OoXolcCLjJQUmNTZwF9h4Yg=w316-h400" width="316" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">I kept this quilt. I found a panel depicting old hymns at the fabric shop in Stratford last fall. This was a perfect jumping off point for the seniors' quilts. The pattern is adapted from "Panel Pizzazz" by Patti Carey of Patti's Patchwork. I had lots of 1 1/2" strips leftover from another project so I pieced them together and cut into 1 1/2" segments and sewed them as leaders/enders into rows. At the end of the rows (left side), 2 1/2" squares are added and every second row more are added until 10 rows are complete and you start adding 4 1/2" squares. It was a great way to use up lots of scraps, but I still have lots left! I can easily start another quilt ☺! This turned out to be a riot of colour and really makes me happy! It was beautifully quilted by my friend, Chris Bogart. <br /></span></p><p style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-size: small;">(Click on the photos for a larger view.)</span><br /></span></p><p></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgalDTNrPraVwPne3f6-ywK51liD6GdPSVI6s8VUvxX9u4rULbsaER7W2PwI_QOwXkrMiK7ubbPpo3UaEKDCUhsVLyW0wqW3X6LLP3MnxvtmtO5aUxxFebUx9seoTjOBtWoGu3Ld2w0vWVj2Rwcey-33KBfS0MKbrXo7OwyfI_bJfCtYCvdb4pdtT87mw=s3072" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3072" data-original-width="2304" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgalDTNrPraVwPne3f6-ywK51liD6GdPSVI6s8VUvxX9u4rULbsaER7W2PwI_QOwXkrMiK7ubbPpo3UaEKDCUhsVLyW0wqW3X6LLP3MnxvtmtO5aUxxFebUx9seoTjOBtWoGu3Ld2w0vWVj2Rwcey-33KBfS0MKbrXo7OwyfI_bJfCtYCvdb4pdtT87mw=w300-h400" width="300" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">The finished quilt<br /></span></td></tr></tbody></table><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEg8O48-5keGn3oV6lI7h58wpRaRjzX1d1-D9F1diDTJi1RqwbHVNmh0UUtfR6Acc0rOS6Q4-uaLJwsr4PG5MWj_PyCfkTD3f1D7HuCAgOL0jtfYc-_GSR7altfSHCe5N0i8bqBrEJnETy3E6FaJsAohFS6cEyoFTl0jPKARz72_qZX3dGFNAuOzNPV-zA=s3072" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2304" data-original-width="3072" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEg8O48-5keGn3oV6lI7h58wpRaRjzX1d1-D9F1diDTJi1RqwbHVNmh0UUtfR6Acc0rOS6Q4-uaLJwsr4PG5MWj_PyCfkTD3f1D7HuCAgOL0jtfYc-_GSR7altfSHCe5N0i8bqBrEJnETy3E6FaJsAohFS6cEyoFTl0jPKARz72_qZX3dGFNAuOzNPV-zA=w400-h300" width="400" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">The 1" finished block corner<br /></span></td></tr></tbody></table><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEi4Wf6lQQQfk1QrNmiMDLQi6xpaeYpclI9unWtZKD4PKFgWL-cXP7dvm9vmTsH53hagEn99j5EQFThEjPDfDg8ii6WgWrGus7hL0D5Jjdr5JoLldIyGedxX8EMwe2Grui9Q-4TBHyVSvWVcijfprgmry2C4HGHcSaqln20eghNd01AjEYSSCXokI2Yucw=s3072" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2304" data-original-width="3072" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEi4Wf6lQQQfk1QrNmiMDLQi6xpaeYpclI9unWtZKD4PKFgWL-cXP7dvm9vmTsH53hagEn99j5EQFThEjPDfDg8ii6WgWrGus7hL0D5Jjdr5JoLldIyGedxX8EMwe2Grui9Q-4TBHyVSvWVcijfprgmry2C4HGHcSaqln20eghNd01AjEYSSCXokI2Yucw=w400-h300" width="400" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">Label</span></td></tr></tbody></table><br /><p></p>Jacqui's Quiltshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04377061976067861699noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8959994082394931750.post-9962987923823283312021-12-15T13:45:00.003-05:002021-12-15T13:45:36.059-05:00Two more Dear Jane blocks<p><span style="font-size: large;">I finished two more blocks in the last month or so. The first one was done awhile ago, but I finished the other 5 blocks since last Wednesday! Prepping blocks ahead of time is the key. I need to take some time to prepare some more blocks again.
