My niece had the cutest little baby boy a few weeks ago and this afternoon we had a shower for him. This is the quilt I made for baby Noah. I was involved with a polka dot exchange on the internet and with a cyber friend from New Brunswick. I used some of my polka dot collection for this quilt. It's a pattern from a Fons & Porter magazine from a few years back.
The background was quilted with a light blue variegated thread with little loopies.
The quilting inside the circles. I quilted this quilt with my vintage Bernina 807 minimatic and my trusty Singer 15-88 treadle.
It's a lovely quilt, and you did an amazing job!
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to see your spotty baby quilt on your blog:) I have seen it for a while so this means that the quilt is at the baby's home?
ReplyDeleteI think it looks great :)

like this quilt very much!! Wish I could do a one like this one day!!: )
ReplyDeleteStart collecting polka dots Sew Mad LOL! That's what took the longest...getting enough different polka dotted fabrics together.
ReplyDeleteI love this quilt and it would be perfect for my neice and her new baby. My neice is "dot" and circle crazy. I have lots of dot fabric and this is just the pattern. I have been trying to locate the pattern on Fons and Porter's website. Could you help me with the name that was used in the magazine or the issue it was it? Thanks so much. I am looking forward to reading all your back posts as I have just recently found your blog. I love it too! I am fairly new to quilting, but have been sewing all my life!
ReplyDeleteHi there 'grapenutquilter'. You have your comments set to no reply, so I can't reply to your comment...hopefully, you will see this. I googled the curved templates and here is one website:

Hope this works...you can trace the templates or order this set from Fons & Porter. The pattern was in a Fons & Porter magazine, but I have no idea which one. Try google images and see what comes up for colour ideas. In the March/April 2004 issue of F & P, there is another pattern for a wallhanging "Around the Bend". The templates are called "Fons & Porter's Curved Seam Template Set". HOpe this helps. Email if you want to brainstorm more ideas!
Thank You so much! I am new to this blog stuff too, and am not sure how the "no reply" got set or how to fix it! Just wasn't sure what size blocks or boarders. Thanks again!
