.....surfacing

It's been awhile since I posted!  This is not because I haven't been sewing, but I've been too busy to get my act together to write a coherent post LOL.  We have been working hard on sewing machines and updating the for sale blog, cleaning up machines and testing them.  And, I have a new ceiling in my basement!  We built the house four years ago, but had to save up a few pennies to put a drop ceiling in this large room.  We found a great deal on tile and fluorescent fixtures this summer and it was time to get it in.

I opened up my Singer 403 in the curved front cabinet and did some sewing on it last week.  Love that machine!

This area needs to be dealt with yet!! LOL  I have to sort my book shelves first to make space.  Hopefully, I will have time this summer.

Sorting and organizing a sewing room is an ongoing, never ending process, but it's always fun to root through and find things you've forgotten about.  Now I need a few weeks of UFO retreats to make headway on the stuff I found :-).

Cute little sewing table...

A friend of mine wanted to get rid of this cute little sewing table so I decided to give it a loving home for now and see if it can be useful with my herd of antique and vintage sewing machines.  Isn't it the cutest little table?

 I tried a Pfaff machine that I have here, but the free arm is too wide.  This Bernina 707 mini matic fits very nicely, except I have to find something thin to raise it just slightly.  It has a nice large surface to piece quilt blocks on and a handy lower edge for your pin cushion, thread catcher, scissors, etc.  I think I'll like this table...now to get the machine fixed so it'll sew.  It has a few issues, but my trusty resident sewing machine repair guy could get it working again, I'm sure :-).  It also folds flat so it will store conveniently in a corner.

My daughter and daughters in law gave me some great additions for my sewing room. Jannyne gave me this wonderful clock. I hung it up in the sewing room, above the yard sale cabinet I picked up last year. This clock keeps us all on time for classes :-).

Heather made this cool wooden button from a cheese board bottom. It was featured on a decorating blog and I fell in love with it. Fortunately, I hadn't found a cheese board at a yard sale yet so Heather painted it black and put a black check X in the middle. It found a perfect spot on the coat rack that Jake made out of an old piano years ago. The Chocolate sign says: "Warning, may cause clothing to shrink" and was a gift from my daughter Amanda last year.
